With housing markets beginning their recovery and ascent the question of when the right time to sell is being asked more and more. Wall Street Journal covered this topic recently and concluded that the market is moving and home prices are expected to rise by 3% this year. However, if you are selling do not expect to reach far beyond market value and local comparable sales. That said, the number of homes on the market is at its lowest since 1999 with only 1.74 million homes being listed and the majority of sales are happening within 71 days (down from 99 days a year ago).

Atlanta Housing On The Rise

After a slow recovery lasting years, the Atlanta housing market is finally starting to see activity last encountered as far back as 2006. It’s also not the only city to be posting gains as 19 out of 20 cities measured by the Case-Shiller index measured a rise in home values.

As we enter the busier spring and summer period of buying and selling of homes, there is certainly going to be an increase in available properties and apartments available  to buy – but it is very likely they won’t be on the market for long as a the market comes back to post-recession life.
